My Review

Realm of Secrets is a prequel novella that takes place before No Remorse by MaryLynn Bast. Schadoh has only a minor part in the series but this novella gives you a peek into her world. Schadoh is part of the fey realm of Loxy. She has an older sister named Seriana that is always traveling through portals to Earth. Being the daughter of the Queen, she is forbidden to travel through the portals. She is jealous that her sister does it without permission and she yearns to go to Earth. Her attempts to follow her sister through are always thwarted by Darius, one of the royal guards. She decides to try to open a portal on her own by mimicking her sisters movements. She is successful and lands in a field on Earth. She is attacked by hideous winged vampires and is saved by a wolf. The wolf turns out to be a shifter name Dakota, a friend of Seriana’s. While on Earth, Schadoh learns what powers she possesses. I’ll stop here so I don’t give away the whole story.
I really enjoyed reading Schadoh’s story. I’m a little disappointed that I won’t get to read much about her in the rest of the series because I really liked her. In Loxy years she is centuries old, but compared to humans she would be the equivalent of a 9th grader. She’s kind of bratty in the beginning but what young girl wouldn’t be? She really comes into her own skin towards the end of the book. I was not expecting the twists in the plot and it made for quite an interesting read. There was also some action which is always a big plus. This novella definitely made me push this series up on my TBR list. I’m very intrigued and cannot wait to read the rest of the series, especially Seriana’s story.

  • Thank you for the wonderful review. I am glad you enjoyed Schadoh’s story. She will be showing up in further stories and may even get her own novel down the line once she has grown up a little more so she can have her own romance. 🙂
